Organists, pianists, and guitarists are used regularly during Mass to help lead the assembly in song. Other instruments are used at times for various occasions or for specific songs that would benefit from additional instrumentation. Who is it for? If you play an instrument, please prayerfully consider sharing your talent with the parish. If you are unable to participate regularly, we could use your services as an "on call" musician. Frequently, the choirs are in need of extra musicians (strings, percussion, wind) to help enhance their choral pieces. There is also occasion for these musicians to play for special services during the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Many people play an instrument, but think that they lack the level of expertise needed to play for Mass. A new musician can start by teaming up with someone more experienced, playing as little as one song at first if desired, until he or she feels comfortable. Experienced musicians are very willing to pass along helpful techniques and advice to new volunteers. All you need is a willingness to share your talent, whatever size your talent may be. |
